A New Post?
It's been a kinda strange week with plenty of ups and downs.
Hot on the heels of Jo hearing about her 'net friend's husband passing away I received news that a former colleague from my Levi's days had suffered a heart attack. Thankfully for everyone, particularly his wife and young kids, he survived but it has been playing on my mind since I heard the news. This guy has always been pretty healthy, ate well, exercised lots and he's only 44. I'm 34, I don't eat as well as I should and I have to check the spelling of exercise because I use the word so rarely. Life can suck, for want of a better word.
On the home front last week saw the completion of our attic conversion. On the positive side we have a nice insulated storage area in our attic. On the negatives, we can't use it yet because the ladder doesn't close properly into the attic, the installer made two holes in our ceilings which have been badly patched up and he also managed to screw up one of the air con ducts that they had to re-route. The owner of the business is coming out on Tuesday to survey the shoddy repairs.
The old study now looks more like a bedroom. The double doorway is now a single door entrance and the wall we ripped out for soundproofing has now been double gyp-rocked. We just need to decide on some colours now for painting. Joseph is adamant that he wants green walls no matter how much we try to persuade him otherwise. Abbey was the same when we painted our first room (the toilet) blue and she wanted red.
While the gyp rock guy was here on Saturday I took to demolishing a few overgrown trees in the front garden and then took a strange turn. That makes me sound very old. In the space of about 10-15 minutes I almost completely lost the ability to grip the tools I was using for more than a few seconds. It didn't make sense. I had to stop what I was doing which was a pain because we had rented a skip to help dispose of the rubbish from the building and the garden cleanup. I felt off-colour all day from that point and didn't feel right again until Sunday morning. I'm suspecting a reaction to one of the trees I was cutting back.
After Abbey's swimming lesson this morning I got back to the garden and was fine. Three hours of lopping, chopping and weeding later and I was pretty buggered again. At least the skip was full and not wasted.
Before I forget, if you get a chance to see Perfume: Story of a Murderer don't miss it. It's very strange so you have to open your mind to the story, but basically it follows a young man in 1800's France who has a much heightened sense of smell and finds himself wanting to preserve the fragrence of women after accidentally murdering a woman. It sounds weird and it is. The ending is just bizarre.
For a bit of a crappy but watchable horror, try Turistas.
Anyway, that's it for today. And probably the rest of the week too at my current rate of posting.

You know, I loved that book and have to see the movie. Might do that on Sunday night ! Thanks for the reminder :)
hey rest of the week???????? bloody hell try 10 days you slack arse.
