Catch 22

Jo and Abbey went to the "girls night out" that Jo normally goes to every couple of months. The night out consists of mainly girls of the elder variety, but tonight I think the average age must have dropped 20 years!

Anyway... I was putting Joe and Scarlett to bed tonight and just recently they have taken to wanting to tuck each other in, but avoiding a good-night kiss like a bucket of scurvy.

Tonight I was tucking Joe into bed when he asked for Scarlett to do it. So Scarlett came over, tucked him in, no kiss and then went back to her bed. Scarlett wanted Joe to tuck her in, so he got out of his freshly tucked-in bed, came over, tucked Scarlett in, then gave her a great big kiss which she accepted. He asked her for a hug too and she said "no" but I know she meant "not even if my Mama's life depended on it".

Joe went back to bed and asked for Scarlett to tuck him in again. Hmmm.

She did it, complete with kiss, but no "yucky" hug. Very cute for a split second.

How do you explain what Catch 22 is to three-year-old twins? I've given in trying.
